Lucas' story

Three year-old Lucas has an extremely rare chromosome disorder which means he can’t eat or drink.

Lucas has to be attached to a machine that feeds and hydrates him for 22 hours a day. When he goes to hospital, Lucas plays with the Clowndoctors from Hearts & Minds in Scotland. Supported by a BBC Children in Need grant, the Clowndoctor’s’ techniques are designed to reduce stress and anxiety, improve communication and increase confidence, whilst having lots and lots of fun.

Clowndoctors use performing arts to interact with children and young people who are disabled or ill, in schools, hospitals, residential care and hospices across Scotland. They reduce stress and anxiety, improve communication skills and have fun.
