Team CardiffBilly BrownI could not think of a better way to raise money for this amazing charity.I am 30 years old, have worked for Lloyds Banking Group since 2005, am a keen cyclist and love to get out in the sun (but mainly wet and windy conditions!) with friends and my local cycle club, Jupiter Cycle Club, in Chester. I have been cycling for three years and love getting out on my road bikes so was delighted to be chosen for the event. I could not think of a better way to raise money for this amazing charity. We're almost at the 'Grand Depart' and both fundraising and training are going really well! I've almost reached £2,000 and have already completed 2,000 training miles (my target for the year was 2,000!). The training weekend that we did in the Peak District is definitely the hardest ride I've done so far - I had barely touched my bike for a few weeks as my wife had an operation, I had lots going on in work, plus, with being a dad, time was short. It has inspired me to make sure I put the best amount of effort in to ensure that I complete the challenge. As we get closer, I am both nervous and excited for the ride as I have never done a event that could prove as challenging as this one both physically and mentally. I don’t want to let team Cardiff down during the ride. It has been fantastic to make new friends with colleagues from all over the country who we are speaking with on a near daily basis and hope that we can continue to keep up the friendship after the ride and organise a form of social ride for us all to meet up somewhere next year. I feel privileged to have been given this opportunity and I could not think of a charity more deserving of our efforts.
