Team EdinburghDarren WilliamsonLooking forward to the challenge of the ride!I decided to apply to join Tour de Pudsey as last year I took part in the North Regions 250 miles for 250 years cycle challenge which was riding from Liverpool to Newcastle over 3 days calling in at local branches along the way. Each branch had their own local event (cake sales & static bike rides) and the whole event helped to raise £15,000 for Children in Need. The sense of achievement that I had was amazing. As Tour de Pudsey is over 300 miles (a bigger challenge), a national event and we are looking to raise at least £150,000 I feel this will really make a difference in a lot of children's lives. In my time I've done a bit of cycling mainly mountain biking but over the last few years I've taken part in a leg (Haydock to Penrith) of the Ride Across Britain event, the annual Manchester to Blackpool ride and the 250 for 250 as above. As part of my fund raising I have ran the Manchester Marathon (10/04/2016) and will be running the Liverpool Rock & Roll Marathon (29/05/2016) together with riding the Manchester to Blackpool event. I'm looking forward to the challenge of the ride (maybe not so much the hills) but mainly the sense of achievement that it will bring together with an amazing amount of sponsorship funds raised.
